The Listening Post - Reflections of a Vietnam Veteran - A Snapshot of Life is a autobiographical account of my life. It begins with my experience in Vietnam in the Fire Direction Center of a 175 mm Artillery Battalion. It then highlights my life as I grew up in Chillicothe, Ohio leading into how my Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) might have impacted my life in my work relations and my relations with my family.
It is a must read for anyone dealing with PTSD as a Vietnam Veteran.
Matthew 14:28-31 says,
"And Peter answered him, “Lord, if it is you, command me to come to you on the water.” He said, “Come.” So Peter got out of the boat and walked on the water and came to Jesus. But when he saw the wind, he was afraid, and beginning to sink he cried out, “Lord, save me.” Jesus immediately reached out his hand and took hold of him, saying to him, “O you of little faith, why did you doubt?”
This book explores how we might step out in faith but because of our doubt and lack of faith we fail. The book challenges us to stop making excuses and act upon our faith.
At the end of the last Ice Age, some 12,000 years ago, one or more cataclysmic floods occurred in what is now the northwest region of the United States, leaving a lasting mark of dramatic and distinguishing features on the landscape of parts of the States of Montana, Idaho, Washington and Oregon.
During my recent positions as an Interpretation Park Ranger at Lake Roosevelt National Recreation Area, I became extremely interested in the Lake Missoula Ice Age Flood(s) that shaped the landscape of Eastern Washington and the Columbia River Gorge between Oregon and Washington. I was impressed by the fact that there are relatively few guides to the features of the flood in Washington.
The National Park Service has created an Ice Age Flood Geologic Trail tracing the route of the flood. My book provides photographs and descriptions of the features in Oregon and Washington. The cover photograph is Palouse Falls.
